Is Identity Resolution Right for Your Company Right Now?

Identity resolution is right for your company if you have a MarTech stack, someone to operate it, and a reason to know who responds to what you spend. If you are missing the first two, it is not right yet, and I will tell you so.
Four things that have to be true
- You have a MarTech stack. A CRM, marketing automation or a CDP: somewhere for the resolved audience to go.
- Someone operates it. This builds the whole conversation with your customers. It is not a sales tool, and it does not run itself.
- You reach people with ads, email or social. Identity resolution tells you who responded.
- You want the loop closed: who responded, who did not, and who showed up through a different tactic.
Who it fits best
- Agencies that need one audience across every client channel.
- Platforms that resell data and identity to their own customers.
- Enterprises with a CDP that want their own first-party cookie reaching their customer base or their total addressable market. An ad can make that link.
- Anyone advertising who wants to close the loop.
The order above is not a ranking. Which companies need identity resolution the most gives mine.
Who should wait
A company without a stack and without an operator. Size does not decide this. The stack and the operator do.
Do you need it right now?
Right now is a different question from right. These are the signs that the answer is yes:
- Your social, media and email teams each work from a different audience. That is three audiences.
- You cannot say, by name, which of your customers saw your ads.
- You run campaigns and cannot say who responded, who did not, and who arrived through another tactic.
If none of these describes you, and you have the stack and the operator, you can still start. Starting costs the work of placing a pixel, and nothing else until you resolve in production.
How to find out without a subscription
You provision a pixel, put it on your website, choose where the data goes, and read the result in the interface against all of your traffic. Live in a day is the realistic timeline.
You pay as data is consumed. Resolution meters bill per pixel event returned on the route you request: HEM only, HEM + email, or Full Profile. Lookups by email, hashed email or LinkedIn URL bill per contact record returned. Misses are free: unresolved events and lookups with no match are never billed. There is no monthly floor and no platform fee. The dev key is free, and billing starts only when you resolve in production. The rates are on the pricing page.
Identity answers who. Person-level intent answers what they are researching and when. If you want the definitions first, read what identity resolution is. For a vendor-neutral framework, use the 2026 buyer's guide.
